Which smart thermostat should you get

You may ask yourself, what is a smart thermostat? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Due to the rise in interactive technology, smart home technologies are becoming prevalent on the market – examples are Google Home and Alexa. Essentially, smart thermostats are the same thing and can be useful in more than one way. With the push of a button or the sound of your voice, the thermostat can easily change settings and modify temperatures the way you see fit, such as raising or turning off the cool when you’re out or turning on the heat at certain times. Overall, smart thermostats can save money in the long run.

There are several types of smart thermostats currently on the market, and it’s your job as a consumer to analyze your choices before making a final decision. While smart thermostats are a new development, there are tons of companies who specialize in the making of these smart technologies who would love your funds to be able to flourish more. We could sit here and analyze different smart thermostats all day, but I’ve narrowed my personal choices down to two in order to compare products instead of listing them.

Right now, the overall best smart thermostat on the market would have to be the Ecobee 4. This thermostat runs for about $248 on average, but while the cost seems high, remember that the product is made to last and actually will save you money. The product has a sleek design and, like Alexa has a built in speaker that allows you to talk to the thermostat and receive a reply. The Ecobee 4 also has good response time and a touch screen with several options, making it a great purchase decision and a high investment.

If you don’t want to spend as much money on a smart thermostat and are looking for a cheaper option, I would recommend checking out the Honeywell Lyric T5. The retail price on Amazon for this is $126, which is a cheap price as it’s about half the price of the Ecobee 4. And there are a lot of similarities between these two products which makes it a smart buy as well – black interface, Alexa inspired voice,  touch screen capabilities. If you are trying to be conservative with your money, you should invest in the Honeywell Lyric T5 as it is just as capable as the Ecobee 4.
